Post by: dingus2018 on January 28, 2019, 11:00:33 pm
Hey Peeps,

Setting up a new four foot tank, my biggest to date, what thickness of foam should I be using for this please?

Standard 4ft is it? 7-10mm will be fine. If it's oversize or custom, 10-12mm.

Thanks for that, what about a heater, how big (watts) does that need to be?

The smallest you're gonna want is a 300w. ;)

Copy that, they have 300W on eBay for about $27 or a 500W model for something like $29, think I'll go with that so as well as watching the shrimp, I can watch my power meter spin fast.   :o

Yeah,go the 500w. The bigger the tank, the more stable the water temp. Once the tank is up to temp. (and in this weather the water out of the tap is already there) the heater won't be on much. So don't worry about it sucking much power. What filter are you going to be using? And what type of shrimp are going to be calling the tank home?
